Things I Have Realised

Prunella Scales is married to Timothy West. So Martin's Mum's actress is married to Arthur's Dad's actor. Huh.

Colditz connects (presumably among many other things given who it starred) NCIS (David McCallum), the ITV Sherlock Holmes adaptations (Edward Hardwicke) and Doctor Who (Patrick Troughton) via three actors who have all had a certain amount of fame playing doctors - Dr "Ducky" MacDonald ME, Dr John Watson MD and THE Doctor.

It also connects to Whitechapel (Rupert Penry-Jones' father, Peter Penry-Jones was in it) which connects to Sherlock (BBC) because (a) both Mark Gatiss and Steve Pemberton were in The League of Gentlemen, and (b) because Phil Davis (DS Miles) played "Jeff Hope" in A Study in Pink.

Rupert Graves has guested in Inspector Morse (and also Lewis) and John Thaw who played DCI Endeavor Morse also played Jack Regan in The Sweeney (TV) alongside Dennis Waterman (who was also in Minder, alongside George Cole who was in the original St Trinian's film) who plays Gerry "Last Man" Standing in New Tricks (which Rupert Graves once guested in!), alongside Alun Armstrong who was in the original London cast of Les Miserables, alongside Roger Allam (who was in the Inspector Morse prequel Endeavour) who is in Cabin Pressure alongside Benedict Cumberbatch who is in Sherlock alongside Rupert Graves...

I wonder if you can play Six Degrees of Sherlock with EVERYTHING. Or at least every recent British crime drama???

Rupert Graves is one of those actors who - before Sherlock - I knew his face because he seemed to have been in EVERYTHING, but not his name. He has guested in so many British crime dramas. SO many, creating a Sherlock link with Marple, Morse, Scott & Bailey, Ashes to Ashes, Waking the Dead,....

Oh! And Mark Gatiss was in an ITV Miss Marple adaptation alongside Sir Derek Jacobi (CBE) who played Cadfael (Ellis Peters' sleuthing twelfth century monk) in the ITV adaptation. So there's that, too.

I may have too much time on my hands. But any additions?

I actuall have been in pubs and drunk with Alun Armstrong and Roger Allam. Many, many moons ago when they were in the RSC and on tour in Newcastle.

I recall there being a joke how BBC uses the same 5 actors or something on tumblr...

and a lot of actors from Harry Potter are also seen in Doctor Who
