Harlequin Mills & Boon - and Pros?

Well, if AUs are your thing and you still want an idea for The Professionals' Big Bang 2015, you could do worse, I guess, than use the Unconventional Courtship Generator. (Having been in SGA for a while where creating slash versions of a Harlequin plots/tropes was a regular thing, I went to check it out. You can also use the "Customise" option to create character lists for any fandom or pairing you please.) Or you could just amuse yourself by playing with it and laughing at Harlequin/Mills&Boon plots and tropes.

I stuck Ray and Bodie's names in it and the first two plot summaries to come up were:

311) Ghost Moon by Heather Graham
Reclusive collector William Bodie is seldom seen in Key West — lately, not at all.
Officer Raymond Doyle visits Bodie's curious house and discovers the gentleman in his study. In his death grip: a volume of occult lore and a reliquary. His eyes are wide with fright, his mouth a horrified rictus where spiders now dwell.
William Bodie returns to the old house to catalog his estranged grandfather's collection of artifacts and antiquities, vowing to see his treasures divested properly. But he cannot ignore the sense that he's being watched, the reports of malevolent black figures, the pervasive smell of death. Is the Bodie house haunted, even cursed?
Ray knows well that some ghost stories are true and he swears to protect Bodie. But there are forces at work for whom one more life is a pittance to pay for their deepest desire. . . .

159) Savor the Danger by Lori Foster
The one man he couldn’t have was the only man he desired…
He may be aloof, and more handsome than gorgeous, but Raymond Doyle is the kind of man a hot-blooded mercenary can’t forget, no matter how hard he tries. So when William Bodie wakes up next to the naked, sleeping charmer — with no memory of what happened — he knows he’s been drugged… even if Ray doesn’t.
After he was kidnapped, Ray swore he’d never trust another man again. Still, something about this strong, sexy hero with the tender touch makes him want to believe him. As Bodie hunts downs a mysterious intruder, he swears he’ll move heaven and earth to keep Ray safe. But what really happened that night? And will the truth bring them closer than they ever thought possible — or put Ray squarely in harm’s way again?

So purely by chance - these really were the first two summaries it gave me! - we have Bodie-the-Mercenary and Doyle-the-policeman. :)

I don't think I could write either of them - though the occult one, maybe relocated to Suffolk did get my antenna waving - but yes, I rather hope someone is inspired by this.

And several of the other plot summaries are not a million miles from stories that already exist.
